By leaving any of the magic soul slots unequipped Wyatt will have a unique martial arts stance left in its place. There are now four soul slots instead of three (we added aerial spells). The combat stances are as follows.

Down: Lion Stance
-unarmed attacks have a chance to cause bleeding.
-attacks mainly using punches.
-with combo master skill unlocked, 4th attack is the only unarmed attack that can guard break.

Side: Wolf Stance
-unarmed attacks have increased chance to crit.
-attacks mainly using kicks.
-with combo master skill unlocked, 4th attack is air born allowing easy transition into dragon stance.

Up: Eagle Stance
-aerial unarmed attacks have increased damage.
-attacks mainly in air.
-this stance launches the target and Wyatt into the air allowing you to single out enemies.

Air: Dragon Stance
-unarmed attacks have increased speed.
-unarmed attacks have increased armor ruin.
-dragon stance is an great way to finish an aerial combo bringing the fight back to the ground to continue the beating.

Atalan:
It has been many years since the Holy city of Sitheil sunk to the bottom of the sea. The people of the city that survived the initial fall have been trapped in this city, clinging together in small towns scattered around the city. With very little resources the people have survived by scavenging. Atalan is one of the brave few that venture out of the settlements to find useful items in the ruins. She is very quick and agile, traits she had to pick up fast in order to avoid the roaming bands of Angels and Demons that have been infiltrating the city in ever growing numbers.

Azudor:
Azudor is a highly renowned demon swordsman that was recently promoted to the rank of General in the Dark Army. The Dark goddess Myrgato hand selected Azudor to enter the abyssal city and rally the Demonic forces (already located in the city) with a new objective. Azudor lives for combat and constantly searches for worthy opponents to test his blade against.

Before I go and create the new assets, I wanted to make a concept to help generate ideas, mood, color and generally warm up my art muscles by pump’n that good old Photoshop iron. With the concept, I try to go as far as I possibly can because the harder I push the art the better my final game assets will look. So, my hope is that my final assets will reach the feel of the concept while still fitting in Valdis Story’s world.

Haha…. Ok, I am working on stuff!! Really! I’ve been working on some concept art for backgrounds in Valdis Story. I’ll make a new post on Wednesday with some art.

Here is a rundown of the skills in their current state for those of you who want to know more about the skills (some may change with further balancing at a later date)

Offense Skills:
Tier 1-

• Tenacity: Attack combos of 4 or greater increase attack damage by 25%.
• Grip: Increase Attack Damage by 10%.
• Cunning: Increase critical chance by 10%.

Tier 2-

• Ambush: First sword attack from stealth has 100% critical chance.
• Combo Expert: Increases basic attack combo by 1.
• Tactical Strikes: All melee attacks gain 10 armor ruin.
• Master Focus: Critical strikes damage increased by 50%.
• Blade Shred: Critical strikes with a sword attacks will cause the enemy to bleed out additional damage for 5 seconds.

Tier 3-

• Hidden Blade: After ‘Sheath Cancel’ next sword attack does 200% damage.
• Raptor Strikes: Attacks while air born deal increased 20% damage.
• Shatter: Critical strikes have an additional 25 armor ruin.
• Blood Lust: Recover 2 health per second if a bleeding enemy is nearby.

Tier 4-

• Assassin: Able to run while stealth. During Limit Mode Critical attacks have a 20% chance regain a Sheath charge.
• Warlord: Attack damage of strong attacks increased by 20%. During Limit Mode grants a 10% attack damage buff.
• Berserker: ‘Blood Lust’ will also grants 15% attack damage. During Limit Mode grants a 20% critical chance buff.

Defensive Skills:
Tier 1-

• Iron Will: Increase magic resistance by 10.
• Muscle: Increase max Hp by 10%.
• Toughness: Increase armor by 10.

Tier 2-

• Black Shield: Reduce dark magic damage taken by 15%.
• Light Shield: Reduce light magic damage taken by 15%.
• Regenerate: Recover 1 Hp a second when not in combat.
• Deflect: 30% chance when hit to block 50% of physical damage.
• Parry: Blocking just before an attack makes impact will stagger the attacker.

Tier 3-

• Null Shield: Absorbs one direct enemy spell, will re-charge after 20 seconds.
• Swift Steps: Attacks dodged using dash moves will recover sheath charges.
• Recovery: Increase Hp regeneration by 1, and healing received is increased by 20%.
• Fortify: A successful ‘Parry’ grants a buff reducing all damage taken by 20%  for 10 seconds.

Tier 4-

• Templar: Spells blocked by Null Shield will recover 15 Hp. During Limit Mode increase magic resistance by 30% .
• Juggernaut: Increase max Hp by 50. During Limit Mode reduce all damage taken by 15%.
• Soldier: First attack immediatly following a parry has 100% critical chance. During Limit Mode reduce physical damage taken by 30%.

Magical Skills:
Tier 1-

• Dark Heart: Increase dark magic damage by 10%.
• Wisdom: Increase Max Mana by 10%.
• Spirit of Light: Increase light magic damage by 10%.

Tier 2-

• Black Blade: Sword attacks deal additional dark magic damage as long as your soul lay in darkness.
• Affliction: All attack spells have a 20% chance to cause a status affliction.
• Attuned: Increase mana regeneration.
• Mana Efficiency: All spells cost 25% less mana.
• White Blade: Sword attacks deal additional light magic damage as long as your soul is in the light.

Tier 3-

• Leech: 15% of dark magic damage dealt is recovered as Hp.
• Ruin: All spells gain 20 spell ruin.
• Judgement: Killing an enemy will recover 5 Mp.
• Mana Steal: Melee attacks steal 1 mana.

Tier 4-

• Reaver: Doubles the power of all status afflictions. During Limit Mode Leech is increased to 30%.
• Sage: Increase int by 3. During Limit Mode all magic damage is increased by 20%.
• Saint: Judgement will also recover 10 Hp. If killed During Limit Mode will revive with 50 Hp and 25 Mp.

Leveling:
Leveling up works pretty much the same as it did in the original VS. After gaining the prerequisite amount of xp Wyatt will gain a level and one status point that the player can use as they wish. A new fourth stat has been added ‘Luck’. Luck effects various things such as rare item drops, game events, and other various stats. Another difference is how xp is acquired. You no longer have to pick up an xp orb from a defeated enemy, the xp is given instantly upon the enemies death. The amount of xp, however, is determined by a new combat style system. During a combo you are given a style ranking. The style ranking increases by a number of factors such as the length of the combo, using both magic and melee in a single combo, air juggling, sheath canceling and many other combat techniques. The higher your style ranking is when an enemy is defeated, the more xp it gives. Style rating also effects the rate at which your focus meter fills up.

Focus
Focus is a new mechanic introduced into VSAC. When the focus meter is filled Wyatt enters a temporary state where he gains a number of status buffs. The buffs can vary from basic things like Increased attack damage and armor, to very unique abilities like mana steal and a chance to resurrect upon death. The buffs Wyatt attains during focus mode are determined by armor and combat skills. Each armor equipment in the game will have its own unique focus buff. Additional focus buffs can be attained by learning different combat skills.

Combat skills
When Wyatt level up he also receives a skill point to use in addition to the status point mentioned earlier. Skill points can be used in any of the three main skill trees. The skill trees have already been designed but I will go into that in a later post. I can say the skills have been designed to greatly effect Wyatt’s ability and alter the play style by not just giving status boost, but also giving entirely new mechanics unique to some skills.

Magic:
Those of you familiar with the original Valdis Story demo know that most spell were acquired by defeating various bosses. In VSAC much of the same principles apply, but there a few key differences. Magic is now attained by gathering what is currently being called ‘POWER SOULS’. The souls can be attained by defeating various enemies. When Wyatt starts the game he will have access to ‘Soul of the Saint Lord’ and ‘Soul of the Demon Lord’. These are the basic Angelic and Demonic magical souls. The way the souls work is that when equipped in a slot they will perform a spell unique to the soul and to the selected slot. There are 3 slots, Up, Side, and down and each slot can be activated while spell casting by pressing the up, left and right, or down keys. If the ‘Soul of the Saint Lord’ is in the up slot you will cast a buff that will slowly heal Wyatt over time, but if equipped in the side slot it will fire out a holy damaging projectile. Each Power Soul has its own set of spells for each slot. Finding multiple of the same type of Power soul will increase that souls level. The level alters the effectiveness and mana cost of the spell, as well as determining the number of slots you can equip that soul in. Various souls have been designed with different elements and properties, for example ‘Soul of the Warden’ is a lightning based soul that can cast an chain of lightning, when equipped in the side slot, that can be used to pull distant enemies towards you allowing a number of possibilities such as continuing a combo after launching them away with a heavy attack. All souls fall under the category of light or dark magic.

At the best time possible I single-handedly broke the forum.  Right when Legend of Fae gets on Steam which is probably going down in history as one of the happiest days of my life, I broke the forum!  Fail! Not only is it a fail because this is a support forum for new players interested in the game.  It is a fail because I also managed to delete the posts and accounts of all members. We were few but we had so many precious posts !  I hope you guys come back and make new posts on the Shiny New Forums!  I’m trying my best to bring it back to its former glory.
